In three paintings, Katie examined memory and how we look back on previously repressed memories. Memory repression can occur when someone sees something traumatic that their brain blocks out as a defence mechanism.
These paintings were displayed in an exhibition called 'The Body Is a Vessel' held at The Univeristy of Staffordshire 2023. They responded to this exhibition title by examining memory and how moments are viewed. The paintings were made not to make sense but to show movement from a sequence of events. They aim to put the audience in the shoes of those experiencing these memory flashbacks.
